A loud noise that had southern Vancouver Island residents taking to social media to figure out what it was has been traced back to a CF-18 fighter jet.
CTV News has learned the jet rapidly descended to 5,000 feet over the city before making a scheduled landing at Victoria airport at around 6 p.m. Sunday.
Sources say the jet was most likely the loud noise identified by many on social media due to the loud, growling noise it made.
People reporting hearing it at Beacon Hill Park, Fernwood and even across the Saanich Inlet in Cobble Hill.
The jet, based out of Cold Lake, Alta., was reportedly making a trip from Boise, ID to Victoria.
Getting the impression a fighter jet buzzed Victoria eh? Someones gonna be on latrine duty tonight....
