A woman says her family got very sick after drinking milk that’s part of a massive recall sweeping the province.

The Vancouver Island woman, who does not want to be named, says she’s concerned because her family drank jugs of Island Farms’ homogenized milk.

“The numbers match so we were extremely concerned that could have possible long-term health effects,” she told CTV News.

The woman says her husband became extremely ill after drinking the milk with his cereal.

“After he ate the cereal he was throwing up and it was horrifying,” she said. “[He] basically lived on the toilet with a garbage can to throw up in because he couldn’t leave the bathroom.”

The woman says the real concern came when their infant son started throwing up after having his bottle.

“He went to have his nighttime bottle, he threw up again,” she added. “Later the next day he threw up again and it was getting progressively worse the more milk he drank.”

Island Farms hasn’t identified what was found in the milk, but on Friday another woman in Saanich said her husband found green debris in his glass.

RCMP are investigating to see if the milk at an Island Farms plant in Victoria was tampered with.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says whatever it is could be extremely harmful.
