People across the country are dusting off their wands and cloaks as they prepare for the newest Harry Potter release this weekend.

Numerous midnight events are taking place across Canada on Saturday, including at Bolen Books in Victoria.

"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two" follows the story of Harry Potter 19 years after the events of the seventh and final book of the boy-wizard series released in 2007.

The new story is a script based on a play that’s set to make its debut in London, England.

The plot is a mystery, as stores aren’t allowed to open the boxes containing the scripts until Saturday at midnight.

Bolen Books says it has sold more than 300 tickets for Saturday’s event and expects hundreds of people to line-up in costume for the midnight release.

“I don’t think that there’s anything that really levels up to Harry Potter,” manager Colin Holt said. “Everyone gets to open up their boxes at the same time and put them on sale at the same time. It just keeps the excitement up for all the people involved, you don’t know ahead of time what’s going to happen.”

There will be live entertainment on Saturday starting at 11 p.m.

Bolen Books will also host a day-long celebration on Sunday to mark Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling’s birthdays.
