The Insurance Corporation of BC is warning drivers to take care this summer as more cyclists hit the roads.

ICBC says on average, 740 cyclists are injured and seven are killed in car crashes between June and September every year.

Drivers are reminded to keep an eye on the road and cyclists, yield the right-of-way, signal well in advance and keep a safe distance from cyclists.

Cyclists are also encouraged to wear helmets and reflective gear, use bike lanes whenever possible, obey the rules of the road and stay off the sidewalks.
