Parks officials say they’re working to bolster hiking trail safety in the Capital Region in the wake of another violent attack on the Galloping Goose.

They say they’re working with local police agencies this spring to make trails more safe after a woman was brutally attacked and sexually assaulted last week on the Colwood section of the trail, near Pickford Road.

Authorities have still not caught the assailant in the March 12 attack, which took place at around 10:40 p.m.

The CRD says it’s also engaging other police forces to improve safety on the Galloping Goose, Lochside and E&N trails.

The talks will revolve around awareness campaigns for users of the trails and possible design changes.

A study addressing lighting along the trails is also expected to start in the near future.
