The Coastal Fire Centre says both wildfires near Bamberton Provincial Park are 100 per cent contained, but crews will continue to check on the area periodically.

The blaze originated around Trowsse Road near the park early Thursday afternoon, according to officials.

It grew to 1.4 hectares and caused northbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway to be shut down after embers sparked a second fire on the other side of the busy route.

The first blaze has been in the mop-up stage since Friday.

The second fire, similar in size, was 100 per cent contained as of Saturday afternoon.

Fire crews will check on the area as often as they see fit, the centre says.

The cause is under investigation, but likely human-caused, officials say.
