A 30-year-old Esquimalt man was arrested after a car with stolen license plates led investigators to a cache of drugs and weapons Sunday night.

West Shore RCMP say they received a report of a red Saturn with stolen plates on Talcott Road just before 7 p.m.

Three people in the car were arrested, and a subsequent search of the vehicle yielded drugs including marijuana, cocaine, crystal meth and fentanyl.

Police also found a Taser made to look like a flashlight, a collapsible baton and a body armour vest.

Two of the people in the car were released without charges.

The 30-year-old suspect faces charges of possession of stolen property, possession of drugs, possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of probation.

He was scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday.

Police believe the drugs were earmarked for distribution within Greater Victoria, according to West Shore RCMP spokesman Const. Alex Berube.
