Saanich police have dozens of stolen bicycles and bike parts on their hands after busting a chop shop earlier this month.

On Nov. 7, a property crimes unit executed a search warrant at a property in the 400-block of Dupplin Road and found a “massive quantity of bicycles, scooters, bike parts and accessories,” according to police.

The seizure amounts to more than $50,000 in stolen goods, according to police.

“We haven’t been able to locate the owners of a number of bicycles and bicycle parts” said Acting Sgt. Jereme Leslie. “We are hoping that people in the Greater Victoria cycling community will see these photos, recognize some of the property and help us get the property back the rightful owners.”

Police have posted photos of the stolen items to Facebook, where some people have already identified items as belonging to them.

Two men, 49 and 51, were arrested without incident and will face charges of possession of property obtained by crime in court next month.

Anyone who identifies one of the stolen bikes or parts as theirs is asked to call Saanich police at 1-888-980-1919.
