VICTORIA – You may have noticed that Facebook or Google ads can be an exact match to your tastes.  That sweater for sale you just happened to be browsing, or that vacation you’ve been researching suddenly appear in an online ad.

It’s no secret the government or businesses can create a profile of who you are online, but how about offline, determined by where you live?  Environics Analytics is looking to do just that.

The data company created 68 profiles across Canada, ranked by socioeconomic status, using assessments from about 750,000 postal codes.  A recent Globe and Mail article breaks down how it works, and explains the variation in profiles such as ‘urban digerati’ and ‘grads and pads.’

Try it out and tell us, do you think it’s an accurate representation of who you are?
