Several people in Maple Bay are facing a slew of charges in relation to a counterfeit money investigation.

North Cowichan and Duncan RCMP seized a number of items, including fake bills, printers and scanners from a home in the 1200-block of Bazett Road on Wednesday.

Stolen property from other jurisdictions and firearms were also seized, police say.

Multiple people were arrested inside the home.

On Monday, Jay Vulcan, 41, was arrested at a store in North Cowichan as he attempted to return items he bought with fake money.

He is facing multiple counterfeit related charges from previous incidents as well as five new charges.

According to Mounties, the money that was seized from the Maple Bay house is both Canadian and U.S. currency.

Officials on the island are working with the United States Secret Service in relation to the American bills.

Police say in the last several months Cowichan Valley businesses have seen a spike in counterfeit money.
