Comox Valley Search and Rescue crews located a man stuck in his car since Christmas Day on a remote logging road in Strathcona Provincial Park.

Crews were notified around 1:30 p.m. that a spot beacon had begun transmitting from a logging road leading to a glacier trail in Cruikshank Canyon.

An aerial search crew assessing the avalanche risk in the canyon spotted the man’s Nissan truck, but a ground team was not able to get to it, Paul Berry of Comox Valley SAR said.

A helicopter crew then flew to the area to pull the man out.

Berry said though the man is “very cold,” there are no major medical concerns. He was not sent to hospital.

It’s unclear how the man became stuck on the logging road.

Crews identified him as a single male born in 1988.
