Nanaimo RCMP are calling it one of the worst excuses for possible drunk driving they’ve ever heard.

An alleged impaired driver was pulled over just after 9:30 a.m. last Monday and asked if she had been drinking.

She told the officer she hadn’t drank alcohol in two months – and that it must have been because she was eating a sandwich.

The officer then jokingly asked her how much the sandwich had to drink.

The woman was asked to perform a breathalyzer test and registered a “fail,” according to RCMP.

Her vehicle was impounded for 30 days and she was slapped with a 90-day driving prohibition.
