You better watch out, Victoria – the Santa bus is coming to town.

Santa Claus, along with his helper elf, will be treating BC Transit riders to holiday stickers, candy canes and Christmas tunes on Friday, Dec. 16 and Saturday, Dec. 17.

The annual event sees the jolly man cruise around downtown Victoria, UVic, James Bay, Royal Oak, Esquimalt, Fairfield, Oak Bay and Gordon Head.

The bus can be easily identified by the red nose on its front end.

Then on New Year’s Eve, buses will operate for free beginning at 6 p.m. for the Capital Region.

That’s good news for anyone coming downtown for the Spirit of 150 celebrations at the Inner Harbour.

The event is receiving $224,000 in federal funding as part of Canada’s 150th anniversary celebrations across the country.

Latin Grammy winner Alex Cuba will headline the event, which ends with a fireworks show at 9 p.m. – syncing up with fireworks in Ottawa at midnight.
